Folks, Jamaica has won a bobsled gold medal!

For the first time ever in the nation's sliding history, Jamaica has a gold medal in international competition, with Shane Pitter winning gold in the four-man North American Cup competition in Whistler

We’re the club that can’t field a team every year, D1 please? 🥺👉👈

They’ll probably get it if they meet qualifications, because D1 (and USL in general) needs density of teams to make their plans work. But it can’t make their local fans or league leadership happy with them.
Sources: North Carolina FC has applied for membership to USL's new D1 league, which is set to start in 2028.

NCFC's USL membership expires after this season. So club's plan is to wait to return until D1 league starts (with pro/rel).

No guarantee they get membership, but that's the plan
BREAKING: USL Championship side North Carolina FC informs players they will not be fielding a team in 2026, per sources.

NCFC have a playoff game on Saturday. Sources expect club will finish playoff run.

Players with contracts now end after two months.

Once again I am begging USSF to establish formal Division 4 PLS standards, formalize semi-pro as a real category instead of just pro or amateur, and give these teams a way to step up without running themselves into insolvency.

Amateur->D3 is the biggest leap in American soccer, more than D2->D1

A fun thing to do whenever a manager complains about expected goals is to google their name and "better chances." Sometimes you get something especially beautiful like "At the start of the season you can ignore this and hope it levels itself out"

It's been pretty hard to wrap my head around a Tampa Bay Rowdies team that is actually pretty poor this year. Since they entered the USL Championship from NASL, they've been perennial contenders. Their crises are statistical anomalies, or when they briefly dip down to merely average.

Easy to guess what DCFC sees in this move: Cheap disaster mitigation until the end of the year. The squad has suffered some losses that leave it thin in a few spots. In particular, an injury to Villanueva would be fairly catastrophic at this point.
Sources: The Philadelphia Union are finalizing a deal to loan Isaiah LeFlore to Detroit City FC (USL).

Trevor and Tiffany will always have my deepest respect as people and I truly hope they find success in whatever they decide to do next. Every single encounter I’ve had with them was genuine, warm, and downright lovely.
"Thank you for the laughs, the trust, and the countless small moments that made this job so rewarding."

Tiffany Ebert-James shares her thoughts following an incredibly impactful six and a half years at the football club.

Look, we all knew that the appointments of political lackeys was going to degrade the capabilities of federal agencies. But it’s still truly mind-boggling to find out that the FBI apparently doesn’t know what metadata is now.

When things are slow, my work sometimes offers an option to take unpaid time off that doesn’t count against accrued PTO balances. I never take it, but lately the notifications of the option have been pouring in every day. Even running at partial capacity from that, work completely ran out on Friday.

My eyes are on Dom Gasso tonight as he gets his first league start of 2025. Thought his Open Cup match vs Westchester was his best in the shirt. Yes, he scored the playoff goal 2 years back, USOC was by far a more complete performance. Big chance for the kid to prove he’s taken a real step forward.

Drita 1 - 6 Detroit City FC II this evening.

Drita finished second in the UPSL division last year and had won both of their games so far this year. Detroit finished mid-table last year. Seems like a vastly improved reserve side, and all of the players look to be eligible for first team inclusion.

Extremely real. A lot of chaos right now, but one thing to know is even giant automakers right now do not know how much tariffs they owe on the cars they are bringing in.

And if they get it wrong (ie bureaucrats reinterpret the rules in future) they have to pay up
you would not believe how annoying it is to try and track tariff data. They give you a big list of codes but so many are "oh this is the code for batteries BUT only batteries that go into cars get tariffed BUT we're not limiting ourselves to only the code for car batteries. Figure that one out"

My actual, nuanced take on Maxi is that while attacking he’s a moment player, not a control player. He became a focal point for Detroit’s sputtering offense precisely because he’d turn up late around the box and bang it home. Similar to his assists, he tended to go straight for the killer ball.

Top scorer in the league from the run of play now, what a start to his time in rouge!
Congratulations to tonight’s Man of the Match, Darren Smith!

Smith scored both goals en route to Le Rouge’s win this evening, bringing his tally to five goals this week!

Congratulations, Darren!
