Time for an introduction: I’m Sean, an Ontario school teacher, specializing in tech and libraries. I love cooking new recipes with my wife, movies, games, finding new music, and have recently gotten into whiskey. My passion is writing science fiction. I’m not published yet; follow me on the journey!
Up until now, I’ve been pretty quiet about the Canada/U.S. relations regarding the trade war. The U.S. as a society has been going downhill for a long time. When I visited this past summer, it felt resoundingly unsafe with many people being unfriendly unless we paid a premium. I won’t go back.

Running “The Lost Mine of Phandelver” for kids at school. D&D has been a big hit so far!

Movie: Bullet Train

Show: Arcane

Game: Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty (current gen)

What are yours?

Looking into getting a new MacBook. Do you recommend the air or pro more? If so, what do you use it for?

In stories, do you like flashbacks? I’m not really a fan. LOST did a decent job with them, but I’m much more enticed when stories have parallel narratives and time jumps into the future. Figuring out the changes and new context as the story flows is far more interesting and respectful.

Discovered a new show (new to me) - Blue Eye Samurai. It’s really great! There’s an amazing stoic protagonist with a strong backstory and solid writing. The animation is vibrant and gory in all the right ways and the acting is top-tier. Check it out!

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

It’s Christmas Eve. I feel at home. Thinking toward the future on this Southern Ontario trip. It’s a nice feeling to know that good things are coming. I’m already looking forward to 2025. What’s on your horizon?
Also, thank you for following. More Sci-fi writing updates to come in the NEW YEAR.

Alright, I finished Pantheon. What a show! It was all very, very good…but those last couple of episodes are a real trip. It is expertly crafted and truly delves into the amazing unknown at a blistering pace. The final two episodes felt like the culminating film to this essential show. Check it out!

With four episodes left in Pantheon, I am still very impressed by this show. Why didn’t it find its audience? This show is really something special and has an amazing concept that continues to unravel in the most interesting ways.

Holidays and layovers naturally intermingle. When they do, it helps to get some great comfort food. Enjoyed Big Rig’s house draft with a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich.

Still working on my first play-through of this gem. I’m playing a Bard/Warlock named Fairweather Mapleton and am about to confront Cazador. As a seasoned D&D player, this game has been a real treat!

That tracks. I had a blast playing Cyberpunk 2077 this year!

After finishing Arcane, I needed another binge-worthy animated show to fill the void. Then, I saw Netflix added AMC’s Pantheon. It is a very cool, fascinating science fiction story revolving around the idea of “Uploaded Intelligence,” using the brains of people uploaded onto the cloud. Good so far.

Anyone else checking out The Game Awards tonight? I’m hoping we see an update on Exodus, a Science Fiction game using an intriguing time dilation blended with galaxy-spanning decisions.

My co-worker asked me an intriguing question today: are there any good movies about an AI that takes over the world? I know it’s a bit cliche, but have you seen anything compelling lately I can recommend to him? My obvious pick is Transcendence.
