What does it mean when the ground starts turning green in Fairbanks, Alaska? Look up!

It's funny and telling that MAGA is agitated like never before but nobody can be seen protesting. The fervor is going straight into their ipads and online only.

one thing to remember about circulating disinformation (like the viral fake f-35 images): it's always unclear who deployed it and for what purpose. Sometimes it presents something very unconvincing, but with hidden assumptions built in to affect your opinion even if you disbelieve the thesis

I think the problem of evil is funny in a sort of cute and misguided way.

The real mystery, I think, is how and why anything in this world of structurally infinite massacres could be good at all.

There was a huge X-class solar flare yesterday on the Sun!

You can see it on the right-hand limb in these SDO images.

I find it so neat that we live next to, and can study, a star.

We take it for granted that it's "the Sun" and it's always in the sky, but there is a star and it is RIGHT THERE.

Absolutely loved this. There's a disturbing trend in the humanities that because Descartes wrote at the start of the modern area, and helped to usher it in, that thorough scholarship of his works is somehow unnecessary to understand him and his views. This Element treats him thoroughly and fairly.
«When locally salient artefacts, attitudes, ideas, and vocabulary are highlighted, a more nuanced picture emerges, changing the relevance of Descartes for environmental thinking.»

choosing to treat the impending downfall like an activity. Like an escape room or homework or an art project. I'll be there to meet the moment, to use my body and voice in the manner required of me, and we'll get through it. I don't have any money so it starts immediately for me when it starts. GLHF

Last month we were on fire,
This month we are under water.
In between those there was ice
(no peaches this year),
Next month will be ticks and mosquitoes,
But at least birds and flowers join the party.

men love to imagine scenarios in which they are disadvantaged (for a lack of real examples), which is why MRA guys who have never had a girlfriend get very upset about the supposed unfairness of divorce law and child support lol

I was deceived by my religious experiences into the foundational belief that ideas are ultimate reality. I feel like I’ve been slapped upside the head with the revelation that ideas don’t do anything

it's crazy how people thought of suspenders, belts, and button-up shirts before they thought of just like... having a button or two between the shirt and pants.

My only concern, and this is descriptive, is that I don’t think hardship makes a people more wise and fair. As things get worse for Americans, I fully anticipate that they will look further inward and become even more cruel and brutish, domestically and abroad.

The 30 permanent and 20 seasonal employees of Great Basin National Park serve 150,000 visitors a year, an industry which generates more than $10 million in visitor spending and is responsible for two-thirds of White Pine County's sales tax revenue. "Negative productivity" indeed.
