Born out of a tribute album to Raymond Scott, Nethersei's SCOTTWORKS Orchestra is his way of distrubuting music dedicated and built out of love to the Warnow/Scott family. He doesn't own the music tributed to Raymond, and gains no money from it.

Pretty prescient message in this short Jim Henson did for IBM in 1967 (with music from electronica pioneer Raymond Scott).

I errrr..... wouldn't so that, exactly.

But do insist on good clear instructions. They give you a button to press if you get anxious or uneasy with the dinks, bongs & whizzes (magnetic imaging seems to have to make noises like Raymond Scott experimenting with new music in the 1950s.)

23. The Raymond Scott Quintette - Powerhouse (Master ‘37)
Wriggly prog-pop, fast-slow-fast. ("Descriptive jazz," Scott called it.) This tune has since become a cartoon music staple, and it's got John Williams's dad on drums. Didn't chart.

Raymond Scott, #BOTD in 1908, was a fascinating guy.
He invented some of the earliest electronic instruments, collaborated with Jim Henson and the Muppets, and with Berry Gordy of Motown fame. Gordy bought an Electronium from Scot (like the one pictured) in 1969.

The most widely used piece by Raymond Scott (1908-1994) must be "Powerhouse" - used countless times in everything from the classic Warner Bros. cartoons to "Ren and Stimpy."
From "Baby Bottleneck" (1946) directed by Robert Clampett, music direction by Carl Stalling:

Raymond Scott, #BOTD in 1908 (d. 1994), a composer and inventor whose name you may not have heard before, but whose music I am CERTAIN you have heard.
Example: Shirley Temple and Bill Robinson dancing to his "The Toy Trumpet" in 1938's REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM.

Believe me I have heard of Raymond Scott. I have to admit I don’t know much about him and his music. I knew about his contributions to music in cartoons and also that he was very camera shy. There is only one filmed involuntary appearance.

Today’s quote: ”The composer must bear in mind that the radio listener does not hear music directly. He hears it only after the sound has passed through a microphone, amplifiers, transmission lines, radio transmitter, receiving set, and the loud speaker apparatus itself.” —Raymond Scott, 1938

Any use of "Power House" by Raymond Scott.
What's your favorite use of pre-existing classical music in a movie not directed by Stanley Kubrick?

Mine is probably "Hall of the Mountain King" from Fritz Lang's M, the main melody of which is whistled by the killer.

Runner up: Howard Hanson's Symphony No. 2 ("Romantic") at the end of Alien
