Yesterday I realized that I'm starting to feel compassion fatigue for my own staff. The constant complaining about each other and complaints about having to do their job is exhausting.

This weekend, I started working on my personal statement for grad school applications (with only one mental breakdown), started working on grad school recommendation letters for a past coworker, AND Amber and I finalized our plans to move back east.

I bought a black-eyed susan plant for Mother's Day in honor of my mom since they were her favorite flowers. They are finally starting to bloom. Like almost everything, I inherited my mother's ability to kill every plant, but I'm so glad I've kept this one alive.

When my mother was alive, she relied on Medicaid, SNAP, and disability checks. For the first time in the last year since she's been gone, I'm glad she's no longer here to have to deal with the stupid shit going on with this fascist af government.
