I believe very strongly that ideas of "professionalism" and "collegiality" have bias against Black, Brown, queer, trans, disabled, non-male, non-cis, and neurodivergent folk. I would also argue that these terms are weaponized against people who are marginalized. 1/2

I'm actually shocked. Good on Dana Bash for asking the question, and I genuinely would not have expected Greene to answer the way she did.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

As someone who doesn't work in insurance related fields, this sounds a whole lot like a marketplace for health insurance that's main goal is to provide affordable healthcare.

If only that already existed 🤔

If you are not in academia, you might not know this, but job interviews used to be held at conferences IN HOTEL ROOMS. Women candidates in a hotel room alone with often all-male committees. People sitting on beds! The horror stories I've heard.
I thing I sometimes thing about is that university departments were still doing job interviews in hotel rooms in the mid aughts

Gen AI is the final form of the Capitalist notion that your productivity is your only worth. Something entirely antithetical to disability & human rights. That so many buy into it as “accessible” is pathetic, honestly.
I think I put my finger on why I hate prompt-based AI music generation so much from an education perspective. It isn't about the output (though I do hate that.) It isn't the "inhuman" nature of it (whatever, I am fine with people programming 808s.) It's the part about "accessibility."

I was reading about the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide today. It makes sense. I think that it is social isolation and the invalidation of my experience from a certain employer that contribute to my occasional suicidal ideation--especially the invalidation of my experiences living with c-PTSD. 1/

Convo on FB: Context matters & everyone is a little bit neurodivergent or on the spectrum. Strikes me as erasing lived experiences of people who struggle & experience discrimination due to our neurodivergence… kinda like “All Lives Matter” or “I don’t see colour” but nowhere near that extent.

A Jew was mad re: Mamdani & 'globalize the intifada' and this is what I said (more context downthread, read the whole thing before responding):

Original context of conversation here and next skeet
I feel like I'm losing my mind. Here is the transcript of what Zohran Mamdani actually said about the phrase "globalize the intifada." This is his "refusal to disavow it." This is what has people terrified. Just fucking read it.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Well this is disgusting that this is what "liberated" is to some people. Gross.
Hate is the only thing being liberated in the New Age of Trump. But you can't solely attribute this to him. People freely using the r word has been making a comeback before this year.
