last summer i partnered with @kansasreflector.com to do a three-part series on the marion county record police raid for the one year anniversary. (we even won a kansas press association award for it.)

glad there's finally a bit of justice for the victims.

Derek out here truth-telling, and folks don't wanna hear it.
people really underestimate how much US culture is set up to hate poor people and blame them for their situation, as if it were a personal, moral failing to be being poor. (to be clear: it isn't & never has been. it's society failing them)
People are really mad at me about this comic. Let me be clear: this is not an indictment of Christianity. Far from it. This is about how the poor are dehumanized constantly. People who are not poor can't ever believe this stuff.

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

What if the Columbus City Council election was a ward system instead where only District 7 residents voted for the District 7 race?

Vogel 62% (10,829 votes)
Ross 38% (6,592 votes)

Vogel won 60 of the 79 precincts in District 7 (76%)

More people than who live in the state of Tennessee. More people than the combined population of Wyoming and West Virginia. This list could go on and on. The Republicans try to use New York City as a bogeyman, but the reality is New York is structurally underrepresented in the senate.
Let me tell you something

I’m a New Yorker, I do not take kindly to those people who talk about New York as though it isn’t a real place populated by real people. This is not an abstract. This is not some place on a tv show. Eight point five million people call New York City their home.

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

What a SHIT bill, we love our libraries on Ohio, especially in Columbus. this is some kinda bullshit
The Ohio House will soon vote on a Republican-backed bill that would allow counties, cities and other local governments to block library levies from the ballot. But libraries said voters deserve the right to make the decision on those money issues.

Bill would let Ohio taxing authorities keep library levies off ballots
Republicans say allowing local taxing authorities in Ohio to block library levies would increase transparency, but libraries say it will hurt them and voters.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.

They’ll insist this is a
one-off victory — something that can only happen in New York & nowhere else.

They’re wrong.

New York is the world financial capital — home of Wall Street & billionaires from across the globe.

If everyday people can defeat oligarchs here, we can defeat oligarchy anywhere.
