Occasional poet, music lover, husband, father, priest. Likes running and cycling and West Ham. Rector of Sacred Trinity Salford. “Occasional” was only supposed to apply to “poet”!
No Worldle this isn’t right. These are measurements of different things. If you are comparing local authority areas then “London” (the City of London, London Borough) isn’t even in the top 10. If you are measuring Conurbation size then Greater Manchester is the second largest in the UK.

Monday 8th December I’ll be going to the @salforduni Carol Service in Maxwell Upper Hall at 12.30. If you’re a student, staff or alumni perhaps you’d like to join me?!

What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.

This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.

I was today years old when I discovered that Taylor Swift doesn’t pronounce her first name the way everyone else (here) does. Apparently it’s pronounced Tyler. I heard a clip of a very old interview. Still learning stuff…

Lovely to be at the @mcrmssocial last night. Saw old friends I’ve not seen for a bit and recent contacts and new people and had lots of great conversations

Today we took the train to Edale and walked up to Ringing Roger. We took our Abby and introduced the new church intern, Marielle to the wonders of the Peak District. Gorgeous day for it.

Waiting for that tipping point when most sensible people realise that transporting a single 80kg person in 2.5 tonnes of SUV was not the height of technical advancement but peak stupidity for the human race.

Today, along with a large group at General Synod, I’m taking part in #fastforgaza A small act of solidarity with those who suffer in Gaza and the rest of Palestine. I took photos and then took a selfie, which I’ve done with a daft face, but this is serious. Please support the Palestinians.

Dear England. Utterly brilliant! Funny, moving, uplifting and thought-provoking. And I still love the Lowry in all its 25 year old, orange and purple glory.

What a fantastic weekend we had. 20 former volunteers visited us in person and 2 extra online. Wonderful to catch up and hear how people are doing and such a good buzz at our Saturday evening social and church on the Sunday. I’m feeling so grateful for so many wonderful international friends!

I’m busy running in prep for the Manchester 10k. I’ll be running it again with some people from L’Arche raising funds to support this wonderful charity in places where funding is even more challenging than here. If you want to support me you can do here: larche.enthuse.com/pf/mcrrun2025

Goatfell, Isle of Arran. Quite a climb up but worth it for the stunning views. I enjoyed a Scottish Delicacy at the top.

Holy Isle, Arran. Wild sheep, wild goats, wild horses and the occasional Buddhist. A beautiful place and well worth the boat trip.
