Listen. Lebanon is complicated. Like really complicated. But if you have any hope of understanding it's history and politics, its by attending elia's masterclass. I've followed his writings for over 10 years and he has one the most insightful, resourced, and intersectional understandings out there.

Long-ish read but super essential. The inability for the Western Left to stand in solidarity with the Syrian Revolution presents a rupture that is still widening. There needs to be a reckoning if we're ever to build a real, tangible internationalism.

Familiarize yourself with the term Campist. This is basically what a lot of us mean when we talk sht about Tankies. It's a rly dangerous way of thinking that honestly is setting us back so much from actually combatting fascism, imperialism, capitalism, etc.

Christian nationalists are not against state control. They are pro-authoritarianism and censorship, and habitually promote and implement anti-liberty policies in power. They simply don't like any state that isn't run by them or people like them. Don't ever believe their rhetoric.
I get that you are correct but I can't wrap my mind around it.

Xian nationalists are anti-state control. Why on earth would they like another state's dictator?

Are they REALLY going with- "but Putin belongs to the Russian Orthodox church so it's cool"
