This, so much this
I've seen it play out so many times and it continues to do so
You've gotta be loud and brave, friends. You've gotta call out the abusers of every type when you see it or you're part of the problem.
[Person] got disproportionate power and continues to hurt people because [specific people] could have said something when it could have mattered but instead stayed silent and created a chain of validation to abuse is every story but we still won't address it.

I really liked Pam Hogg. She's someone I would often run into at clubs, parties and gigs (esp by Siouxsie, whose outfits she designed). She was always kind to me, and gave off a healthy disrespect for *glances around* all this bullshit, while also BOSSING the bullshit. So sad to hear she's left us.

I stopped intentionally listening to Nick Cave after some stuff he said in 2020. He's on the same level as Morrissey is to me now.

Today would be a great day to pick up one or more of my books. They're a series but stand alone easily, and if you're in the US you can even buy them directly from my website.
If you need a big dose of learning how to shake off self-doubt, I recommend Cast a Shadow of Doubt.
Even the grittiest blue collar city has a spark of magic under the surface. In Baltimore, you might find that magic around any street corner or darkened alley - if you know how to look.

Poverty and disability often go together.

It’s difficult to “try harder” your way out of financial problems when you lose your health.

The pull yourselves up by your bootstrap mentality goes out the window if you’re bedbound.

It can happen to anyone at any time.

They aren’t moral failings.

I’ve collected SNAP in two different states across a number of years at different times. This is utter horseshit and it’s impossible.
KUDLOW: Are you able to reform the SNAP and food stamp program? Are there a lot of able-bodied people who shouldn't be in there?

BROOKE ROLLINS: What DOGE and our amazing team at USDA have found is 186,000 dead people are receiving SNAP benefits. We've made hundreds of arrests.

SNAP recipients have to recertify every six months, providing proof of income and qualifying expenses. SNAP employees are already overwhelmed/understaffed at the normal rate, there's no way they can handle everyone reapplying at once. There would be a huge delay in benefits, people will starve.
SNAP crap red hat claptrap.

Requiring eveyone currently receiving SNAP to reapply is ridiculous since recipients recertify eligibility periodically.
Kicking people off is the point, not finding “waste, fraud and abuse”…like the waste of admin wok to process re-enrollments for 42mil people...
