Some species are surprisingly uncommon in our care—even when they’re common in the wild. The ruffed grouse is one of them. Window collisions are often fatal for these birds, which means we rarely have the chance to help one recover. The last one we admitted was back in 2022!

We’re not sure what caused little guy to be unhappy as most of the back wall of our landlord‘s building is not window so we’re not sure if a collision happened. Let’s make better buildings that are safer for birds.
