We welcome the decision to lift the two-child limit - a big step forward. But with 1 in 3 children in poverty, there’s much more to do. Young people need long-term commitment so every child grows up safe and supported.

And that’s a wrap! After seven weeks, our #TimeToListen campaign ends. We’ve shared young Londoners’ journeys from harm to hope - showing the power of adults who listen with care, not blame. We’ll keep listening and seeing young people as worthy of safety and hope. Thank you 🧡

The BBC's recent article challenges a dangerous myth - that there's a "safe place" to stab someone. Raising awareness through empathy and understanding is far more effective than approaches rooted in judgement or punishment 🧡

This #YouthWorkWeek, we're celebrating the life-changing support our caseworkers do every day! Between them, they have supported hundreds of young Londoners through serious harm and trauma into hope. They are not just the icing on the cake, but the key ingredient that makes everything work 🍰

🕊️ "I've learnt how to trust people. I feel safer. Everything gets better with time."

This is what youth work is all about. Helping young people rebuild confidence and hope for their future.

For many young Londoners, fear isn't just for Halloween - it's every day. Many are exploited by adults they should be able to trust and carry trauma for things they never caused.

At Safer London, we're there for young Londoners through their hardest moments - and stay for as long as it takes 🧡

Yesterday we hosted our Time to Listen event, exploring how to create safe, empowering spaces for young people with lived experience of harm. Huge thanks to London VRU, the Safer London team & our amazing group of VIPs for their energy and honesty! #TimeToListen

When Theo, aged 16, brought a knife to school, it led to exclusion. What no one saw was the fear behind it - days earlier, he'd been chased with a machete. At Safer London, we didn't see a 'bad kid'. We saw someone trying to stay safe. When we stop judging and start listening, everything changes 🧡

Our Time to Listen campaign ends with the faces of young Londoners.

These aren't actors. They're real young Londoners - some who've used our services, others who come from communities affected by violence and exploitation.

We need to stop seeing young Londoners as perpetrators and start asking how they got there. Exploitation isn’t a “lifestyle” - it’s abuse. Real safeguarding means listening with care, compassion, and letting young people lead the way.

Everyone makes choices. But sometimes those choices come from fear. One young Londoner we worked with was just 15 when he faced violence from adults, and he was told it was his fault. Now, he's part of our participation programme - a space where we listen and we help him to see himself differently.

This is what one young Londoner told us after working with Safer London. Through our Time To Listen campaign, we're amplifying voices like theirs - because no one should be labelled when asking for help.

Violence and exploitation affects young Londoners' mental health in lots of ways - both in the moment and over time. Our experience tells us that having someone they can trust to talk things through with can make a huge difference to their mental health and helping them get through tough times 🧡

Too often, young Londoners are judged for their actions without anyone asking 'why'. By listening and not labelling, we create the safe spaces they need to be heard. Our Time To Listen campaign challenges the systemic failures that harm young Londoners. Change starts when someone says: 'I see you.'

1 in 8 young people (16–24) are now NEET - the highest in a decade. But a trusted adult can change everything: someone who believes in them and helps them navigate barriers. If we’re serious about ending youth unemployment, youth workers must be at the heart of the solution.

Youth workers are key to unlocking the potential for unemployed youth says MP Josh Dean - whose own experiences proves it.

We are appalled and saddened at yet another case of misogyny and racism in the Met Police.

At Safer London, we have worked with outstanding officers who genuinely care. We will keep working with them to fight for young Londoners' right to live free from harm.
