This would be a UK first and demonstrates real commitment to pedestrian safety. Children are eight times more likely to be killed in an SUV collision than with a smaller car. By switching to smaller vehicles we can create cleaner and safer streets for all http://bit.ly/492FGIn
Cardiff may become UK's first city to impose SUV parking premium
Owners of large cars such as SUVs would be charged more to encourage switching to smaller vehicles.

100 fewer people were killed or seriously injured on Welsh roads with 20mph/30mph speed limits in the year since 20mph became the default in built-up areas.

It’s the reason we campaigned for the change.

This is amazing re: 20mph impact in Wales - collisions on Welsh roads at their lowest level for that quarter since records began, and 100 fewer people killed on 20mph and 30mph roads. That's 100 people alive today who potentially wouldn't otherwise be here...
January 30, 2025 at 1:29 PM
A little bit slower, but woweeee, a whole lot better!

100 fewer people killed or seriously injured in just a year. What a result?!

Who can honestly argue with that? Something @welshgovernment.bsky.social should be so proud of. Let's not undermine this fantastic change to our streets. #20mph rocks

1 YEAR OF 20MPH

There were around 100 fewer people killed / seriously injured on 20/30mph roads.

Casualties from July-Sept was the lowest Q3 figures in Wales since records began.

Over the year the number of casualties on 20/30mph roads is 28% lower than the year before.

Good policy making.

Very icy pavements in #Cardiff this morning!
Don't leave us out in the cold!

We hear a lot about the importance of gritting carriageways when it's snowy and icy, but pavements are often forgotten.

We're calling on local authorities to grit and clear pavements too, so we can all walk and wheel safely this winter.
