Feeling especially SMRT this evening. Had an exhaust problem on the bus, causing the decibel level to go "to infinity and beyond". With some creative thought, and hand tools, I put together a temporary repair that is shockingly effective. Fixing things is so empowering!

Back to Yuma & finding ways to entertain myself, like last night's "Howling at the Moon Festival".
Interesting for people watching & some silliness. Described as a senior kegger, or a desert tailgate party, they have a live band & test howls, but we really just went for the t-shirts.

Missing my garden today (most days really).

On sightseeing tour in the desert, visited Dripping Spring, rode over the Hog's Back & checked out the remains of a cabin. Vistas are beautiful, with obvious changes where there's water. I like these little cacti. They look fluffy and cute but, like the bear, I did NOT pet them.

I did get over to the Phoenix area for a few days. Their Desert Botanical Garden is a beautiful and educational experience. I always stop to smell the roses even when they're next to a cactus. Must revisit in the spring to see the seasonal changes.

I did get over to the Phoenix area for a few days. Their Desert Botanical Garden is a beautiful and educational experience. I always stop to smell the roses even when they're next to a cactus. Must revisit in the spring to see the seasonal changes.

Hiking in the desert I was surprised that so many saguaro cactus seem to be giving a middle finger salute. Apparently mother nature is no longer trying to be subtle in her messaging.

Participated in the Buckskin Mountain 5k race to The Desert Bar yesterday. 5k is easy, right. F no! Mountainous, dusty gravel path more suited to 4-wheel drive vehicles than biped homo sapiens. On the plus side, my knee survived some running. Yay!

Crossed Arizona quickly, knowing that I'd get back to spend time with family & friends once they migrated this year. Was working my way to LA to visit some great friends (Hi Ike, Maki, Christy & Larry). Got some lovely pre-Christmas time with them. Saw this on a marina walk - very appropriate.

Love NFL and can't wait for the Superbowl, but even the best artists are not worth watching at half-time. Lamar would be interesting if he and Drake came out riding on the shoulders of their body guards, and jousting with pool noodles. I'd watch that.
