Recently renewed my home broadband with Vodafone. Can't fault the service I have had in terms of connection, but why does a simple renewal result in REMOVING my static IP address and me needing to call to get it reactivated?

Well, shit. Just read that Mark Sibly of Blitz Basic, Blitz 3D, etc. fame passed away in December. My life would probably have been very different without the things he created. RIP, Mark.

So sick of the bullshit narrative that Y2K was a massive overreaction and that the problem was never real. Nothing went wrong because those of us tasked with fixing the problem did a good job!
People feared the computer glitch would mean "the end of the world as we know it." Thankfully, Y2K didn't live up to the hype after years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation.
