UN rightly calls for the release of Abu Zubaydah. There should be no such thing as a “forever prisoner”, never charged and never tried in a democracy. The two are fundamentally incompatible.

The Guantánamo (yes it's still open) prisoner population is now 27; 3 were transferred out in the last few days. Of those remaining, 15 were cleared for release many years ago, 4 "forever prisoners" have never been tried, 2 are serving sentences, and 6 are on trial.
