I created a profile for Social Media on GrapheneOS and I now hardly come here. How have you been?

Every now and then, documentation I didn't think I made saves me.

@craiu.bsky.social @ryanaraine.bsky.social Where/when is the chat with the 30 folks during podcast recording?

Every now and then, I enter nano my mistake and have trouble exiting it. Muscle memory kicks in and I see "recording macro" when I hit the almighty colon.

Great summary to get up to speed with the cool kids.

Some days, I find as much joy in writing documentation as I get from writing code.

Other days, I just paste a bunch of commands in a .md file.

Other other days I enter YOLO mode, lie to myself, and say that I'll remember this.

Honeybadger's activity here makes me want to try their platform. Oh, no. Is this what it feels like to be subtly pulled by the DevRel spells?

Docker's Build Cache can quickly gobble available space if you aren't aware. OOTB, it doesn't limit it to n GB.

The first time I had to work on a Ruby codebase, I was dreading learning yet another language.

I remember reading the code for the first time and fell in love instantly. ♥️♥️♥️ It was just beautiful, easy to comprehend and made sense right off the bat.

Thank you, @matz.bsky.social.

Looking forward to Spotify Wrapped 2024. When exactly does that release?

Tough job for the product folks at Bluesky; strong varying, yet valid, opinions.
There's a whole lot of conversation still to be had about proving identity, but just want to call out that this option is available right now (and super cool to see!)

The only way Dylan could get a nytimes-dot-com handle like this is if nytimes set it up!

💯
I will never understand people who work full time and still do a ton of public speaking, writing, content creation, etc. outside of that. Y’all are a special brand of psychopath and I have an unbelievable amount of respect for you all.

Follow up after a week of use:
- confirming Claude AI > ChatGPT for suggestions.
- minor UX issues with Avante (sometimes responses are duplicated in two panes). Yet to truly investigate. Currently meh.

@seanofthedev.bsky.social
Currently toying with Avante in #neovim

TL;DR:
- They lean towards Claude AI by Antrophic (never used it).
- Few hiccups using OpenAI as my provider (drowsy, missing something)
- Got an API key from Antrophic; $5 minimum
- It works. Seemingly expensive as $0.15 used in 6 requests.

I spent the better part of my day working through my arguably unwarranted disdain for Microsoft... SQL Server.

On the bright side, the Rails adapter was seamless and I was pleasantly surprised with Azure Data Studio in lieu of the beefier SQL Server Management Studio.

Worth a read for those with websites. Cool stuff.
While Bluesky looks like other social apps on the surface, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network.

I blogged about it here:

Rails around the world 🌎
Last month, my company deployed a Rails app that helps tens of thousands of farmers and hundreds of extension officers countrywide. It includes offline functionality. This project was funded by the Inter-American Development Bank.
