Pimicikamak remains in a state of emergency, despite the federal government’s false indication that the community is in a recovery phase.

Evacuees remain at risk without clarity on when or how they can return home. (1/2)

This is known first hand by far too many folks in Winnipeg, especially in the harsh winter weather like we’ve been seeng in recent weeks. (1/3)

Watching the increasing violent atrocities in Minnesota has been horrific. These atrocities are a blatant attack on human rights and international law. This violence is a reminder that democracy is fragile when it is not actively defended against rising fascism. (1/5)

At a moment where we are seeing threats to human rights and international law just south of the border, leadership matters. We need a NDP leader who will defend justice, dignity, and peace.

You have to buy a membership by January 28 to vote for Avi.

More and more we’re seeing human rights violations and rollbacks to essential public programs by politicians who’d like more than anything to shield themselves from democracy.

In recent days I’ve felt deeply impacted by the images of authoritarian violence coming out of Minnesota, and I’ve heard from many community members that they’re similarly disturbed by Trump’s anti-migrant attacks and illegal rights violations perpetrated by his masked ICE paramilitary force. (1/8)

Huge shout out to Matthew Green for his brilliant analysis about how to rebuild a strong NDP. Thank you Matthew Green and @mrpeterjulian.bsky.social for the major legwork they’ve done to reignite democracy through their NDP Renewal initiative, something we need now more than ever.

I believe Avi Lewis is the leader the NDP needs right now.

He’s someone who gives us hope, unites our movements, and offers bold, inspiring solutions to tackle affordability while upholding human rights without qualification or exception. (1/2)
A profound honour to have this endorsement from MP @leahgazan.bsky.social, one of our movement’s strongest and most principled leaders.

Join the NDP. Let’s win this race — and let’s win a government that serves the many, not the money.

As the ground begins to thaw, frozen untreated sewage will contaminate everything it touches.

After years of chronic under investment by the Liberal government, Pimicikamak cannot possibly address these threats without outside assistance and significant infrastructure investment.
