One thing playing in San Diego State's favor in this is that Petco Park has a larger capacity than Snapdragon Stadium.

A big reason why BC, WA & OR are starting the process for high speed rail from Vancouver through Seattle to at least Portland (Eugene later?). The demand is there.
the fact that amtrak cascades hit another ridership record in FY25 despite shutting down for two weeks and spending half the year running smaller trains with higher prices bc of the horizon recall is another sign that the demand for rail in the pnw is genuinely insatiable

Congrats to MLS for their pending financial disaster starting in 2027. I guess they want people to forget about the league (the AppleTV deal already started that).
BREAKING: MLS owners officially voted to flip to a "summer-spring" format beginning in mid-July and running through the end of May. Will start in 2027.

Congrats to MLS for their pending financial disaster starting in 2027. I guess they want people to forget about the league (the AppleTV deal already started that).
The timing is interesting, as Delta plans to start its Seattle-Rome flights in May. SEA-FCO becomes another Alaska/Delta international route battle.
Alaska Airlines to commence flights to Rome (FCO) from April 28, 2026.
The new route from Seattle (SEA) to Rome (FCO) will operate 1 daily with the Boeing 787-9:
• AS180 Depart SEA 5:30 PM Arrive FCO 1:15 PM (+1 day)
• AS181 Depart FCO 3:25 PM Arrive SEA 5:45 PM

One of the biggest reasons MLS has been able to grow like it has is *because* of the spring-fall schedule. It gave a strong alternative to MLB (and surpassed it in some cities at times). Flipping the schedule will hurt the league financially more than they know.
Sources: MLS owners are expected to vote on flipping to fall-spring calendar at Thursday's BOG meeting. Could happen as soon as 2027.
Also: Changes to competition format expected too, including single league table + divisions.
