Gang, we gotta tear the whole internet down to the studs and start over, what the hell is this?
This interview is a snapshot into where tech companies are with online harassment right now.

They know how to end it, but they decided not to spend the money. They’re prioritizing growth (and profit) above all else. And they’re blaming YOU for logging on to the platform they designed to be unsafe.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

My KILL THE POOR email to grocery stores is generating a lot of questions already answered by my KILL THE POOR email
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

LAPD has commanded The Douglas, the nearest bar to Dodger Stadium to turn off the televisions. They are now calling unlawful assembly, though as far as I can tell the only signs of anything are people on the sidewalk. It is the 9th inning.

More holidays should have rap songs like Halloween does. There should be an Arbor Day song about going to a party in the forest and meeting all different kinds of trees

Either whoever wrote this blurb doesn’t know that Tupperware parties are an MLM sales tactic or it’s a subtle cry for help from one of the few normal people who still works at the NYT
“Prompt parties,” gatherings of women over cheese and wine to chat about how ChatGPT can help them, are emerging as the next-generation of Tupperware party in San Francisco.

Tired: lead in the water pipes
Wired: lead in the housepaint
Inspired: lead in the protein powder
my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

This should be the official @sagaftra.org stance on commercial roles
It is tacky for really famous people to be in TV commercials for products. Their gambling debts/boat repairs are not my problem, those roles should belong to actors like the Time To Make The Donuts guy and the actress who said "who are you calling a cootie queen you lint licker" in that Orbit ad.

If you’ve never seen a Robert Redford film, start with THE STING or BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID, obviously. But if you liked either of those then definitely check out THE HOT ROCK, a breezy 1972 Peter Yates heist caper with George Segal, Ron Leibman, and Paul Sand that, to me, is perfect. RIP!

As a not-very-well-known NZ author I did not expect to find myself in there, but I was. If you've published a book, check if you're there, and add yourself to the class action (see the reply to this post for the link)
Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.
