Could the connection between the #gutmicrobiome and hypertension pave the way to better management strategies?

New findings in mice provide clues:
Gut Microbiota Metabolites Sensed by Host GPR41/43 Protect Against Hypertension | Circulation Research
BACKGROUND: Fermentation of dietary fiber by the gut microbiota leads to the production of metabolites called short-chain fatty acids, which lower blood pressure and exert cardioprotective effects. Short-chain fatty acids activate host signaling responses via the functionally redundant receptors GPR...

Yes, #SciComm is really underestimated and many researchers are failing still (No you aren't "smarter" when using lots of jargon!) 🧪 make research accessible!
Good essay, and it applies to public health communication, as well.

"The gap between scientific understanding and public reception seems to widen with each passing crisis....our expertise has become a barrier rather than a bridge."
ICYMI a great #scicomm piece from @unbiasedscipod.bsky.social this week.

It resonates - perhaps partly because I try to publicly communicate as if I'm talking to my grandma or high school friends.
