Keen but mediocre baker. Ditto gym-goer. Getting past it. Who am I try to kid? Definitely well past it. But my gym trainer did say I am fitter than many 40-year olds. So I’ll take that.

Graduated the muscle up today. Months of failures or just 1 rep, and I got 5 in a row this morning.

Do the electrons get disappointed when you turn the light off, and leave them stranded there in the wire?

I realised this evening that I've reached the age when a good sneeze is almost as satisfying as an orgasm.

At least the sourdough worked, even if today's croissants were a failure.

Made croissants today, the first time in more than a year. Bit of a disaster. The pastry was too soft, and the butter was too hard, so I suspect that the laminations didn't work properly. Then I let them rise for too long, and they collapsed when I egg-washed them. We'll see. ...

Have been drying off the eddos in the greenhouse for the last few weeks. Brought them in yesterday as temp was due to drop to 3 degrees. Should I dry them right off, or water sparingly and keep them just ticking over for the winter? All suggestions/advice gratefully received.

Sunday's sourdough and Monday's ryebread. That's enough baking for thisweek.

Euonymus alatus burning bush, very aptly named. From green in summer, it bursts into flaming red at this time of year.

But John came fifth, and received a toaster.

It's all very well Netanyahu pressuring Hammas to return the dead hostages, but he has probably already bombed them to smithereens.

The second split of our old oncidium has just started flowering. I think it is o. tescoensis, but it might be o. waitrosensis. Failing that it is probably o. oonosensis.

Following the politically motivated decision by the undemocratic liberal extreme left Nobel Committee not to award him the 2025 Peace Prize, President Trump has today signed an executive order for all Norwegians in the US to be investigated for immediate deportation.

Wife: you can go today.

Our oncidium tescoensis first flowered in late 2023.

It started flowering again with two spikes on 3 Nov 2024 and finished flowering 14 Mar 2025.

After flowering, we split it and removed 3 back bulbs, so then had 5 plants (3 quite weak).

Bananas growing in the inactive half of the compost heap. They'll eventually get frosted and more or less vanish, but will be back again next year.
