“The less prestige a disease has, the less likely it is to be researched. This reinforces the gaps in collective knowledge about it and further marginalises patients with it.”

THIS is a SCIF. It's a secure, climate-controlled, Faradized office with a safe door. Not all SCIFs are made of shipping containers like this one, but most of them are.

I dare you to tell me some fool could accidentally put a journalist inside one of these things by accident.

The new screening test replaces the Pap test in Ontario as of this month.

"The new screening tool, which is administered similarly to a Pap test, is significantly more effective at preventing and finding cancers early than the previous test that looked for changes at the cellular level"
'My story doesn't have to be your story': Advocate says new test can prevent cervical cancer
It could have changed her life, but instead of looking back with regret, Alicia Hilderley wants others to use a new cervical cancer test.

What do you see when you see the cybertruck? For my friends @themorningsnows.bsky.social & @nanaoseiopare.bsky.social it's the Casspir, the armored personnel carrier of apartheid South Africa. slate.com/news-and-pol...
We’re Scholars Who Study Africa. The Cybertruck Looks Kind of Familiar.
Elon Musk was growing up in Pretoria when the Casspir patrolled the townships.

First they came for the disabled, but this verse was never written—and us disabled folks know damn well why.
Disability isn't rare. It isn't a niche issue. If you live long enough, it will affect you or someone you love. These cuts aren't just an attack on us-they're a warning to everyone.

Weiss remains, as ever, truly repugnant.
I don't expect anything from Bari Weiss' publication, but they seriously just ran a piece defending subminimum wage for disabled people where no openly disabled people were interviewed, just parents of disabled people.

The way we're already pricing in authoritarianism is very, very bad. Trump is using his power as president to openly retaliate against a law firm for representing Jack Smith and it's barely news. The signal this sends is chilling to anyone who would oppose him. What else will he do to his opponents?

So this is how the Trump administration intends to replace migrant farm workers—by enslaving those who are "not disabled enough."

It's scary enough when your peers think of you as "not disabled enough". It is a constant fight to avoid being ostracized and have your limits respected.
RFK Jr said he wants to send folks who are taking antidepressants and ADHD medications to "wellness farms" in rural America where they will be forced to labor by growing organic food to "cure their addictions."

Today at 2:00 p.m. Rudy Giuliani thoroughly do-nothing-ed himself into conceding a motion for contempt in the DC defamation case brought by two Georgia election workers.

The penalty will be decided at a hearing next Thursday. All signs point to incarceration.

I'm fortunate enough that my lifelong chronic illness is treatable. I don't have any toxic positivity to add here—my experience has made me even angrier at how chronically ill and disabled people are treated. Hindsight has brought to light some disturbing revelations: 1/
Being disabled and chronically ill is beyond lonely. Far too many people in society can’t comprehend illnesses which are permanent & unrelenting but don’t necessarily kill you. As a result they EXPECT you to get better.

When you don’t - they abandon you.
