Spreading some Wednesday sunshine from the Rhone Street Wishing Tree!
It’s been a tough stretch, but these new wishes are a reminder of hope and positivity.
Love that I found these blank sale tags at Goodwill – a perfect sign to reduce, reuse, and make a wish!
Come by and add your hopes and wishes!

Big moves at our Airbnb! 🤩

We’re swapping out plastic bottles for these sleek aluminum cans of @drinkPDXwater! 💧
So happy to support local and ditch the plastic. 🙌

Have you tried Portland’s finest?

Annual Cherry Blossom watch has begun!
Last year, on this day, our tree was a cloud of pink! This year, still waiting.
I 🩷 documenting the bloom times of my flowering trees – a yearly project of mine & a beautiful reminder of nature’s rhythms.
From late Feb to mid-Apr, it’s a delightful surprise.

Absolutely mesmerized by the stunning colors of our chicken eggs!
🌈🥚
Turmeric, one of our rescue hens (we believe an Easter Egger). Her green legs and earlobes hint at those gorgeous greenish eggs she lays, since 2022.🐓

How cool is it that the shade even changes, sometimes even with a hint of pink?!

A little neighborhood maintenance today: restocking my dog treat bags to help with the restock of the dog treat box a few blocks down the street & refilling the Spice Girl Chickens' treat jars. 🐶🐔
Those ladies are popular and go through their treats FAST! 🤩

Wowza that was some hail this afternoon!

Monday = Clean Street Day!
Every week, after the trash trucks roll through, I grab my gripper & bucket to tidy up the neighborhood.
Today I covered 8 blocks & collected 5.6lbs of trash!
It's become a priority for me this year, rain or shine.
How do YOU help keep your neighborhood sparkling?

Quick reminder-Plastic Film goes in one bin & Multi-Layer Plastics go in the other!
Clean & dry is key! Found some moldy bags today🤢!
Also round containers over 6oz by volume go in your blue curbside container, yes this includes medicine bottles, shampoo bottles, yogurt & deli containers, etc…

☀️ Saturday grind! 💪

Started bright and early with a 6 AM scout camp drop-off, then straight to the front yard garden! 🏡

Mixing cement and making progress in this perfect sunny & cloudy weather! 🌤️

Still got a long way to go, but loving the process!

How’s your Saturday shaping up? ✨

The Wishing Tree is overflowing with heartfelt hopes during this late winter warmth.
Reading through them, it’s clear many are carrying heavy burdens about current events.
But amidst it all, there’s so much hope & resilience!
Let these wishes bring you a little light today. We are stronger together!

Here at the Rhone Street Recycle Station, we take things you CAN’T recycle curbside, & they need to be sorted by number.

But for Portland Curbside Recycling…It’s less about the number & more about the form!

It’s recycling day at the Rhone Street recycle station! I meticulously sort through every item, from plastics #1-6 to lightbulbs, straws, corks, utensils, styrofoam, bread tags, bottle caps, and electrical cords.
Every item is double-checked to ensure it’s properly sorted and has a visible number.

❤️❄️ Wishing a Happy Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day to our incredible community! 🌹

Despite the icy grip of winter on our city and sidewalk right now, our hearts remain warm with joy, kindness, and a passion for community (and recycling)! ♻️❤️

Brrr! 🥶 Our ‘Spice Girl’ chickens are not fans of the freezing temps🧊, strong winds💨, & snow❄️

But, we’ve got them cozy and warm inside their hen house 🏠 with a heat panel and a special treat to brighten their day 🍳!

They may not love the weather, but they adore their yummy goodie 🐓❤️

Battling the blustery East winds a major part of our PNW winter weather! 🌬️😬

Gusts of 10-20mph are wreaking havoc on our porch collection bins and our yard. They even took down our flag pole 🏴‍☠️!

Freezing rain is also in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, which is also not a favorite❄️😬

Exploring the city of roses this evening with my favorite person🌹
Checking out the Portland Winter Light Festival.

Even though it was a weekday and most wasn’t lit up, we still had an amazing time strolling around our beautiful city

We’ve been going almost every year, it never disappoints!

Yesterday, pruning the peach tree, today mulching garden beds. All to prepare for harsh winter weather conditions & more bountiful spring!
I’m mulching the garden beds with straw, specifically the blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, currants & pear tree…giving them a cozy winter blanket

Sunday = Coop cleaning and homestead chores galore! 🐓💦🌳

Gave two of our ‘Spice Girl’ chickens a royal treatment - warm soak, towel dry, and a full blowout! 💆‍♀️🐓 👑

They may not have loved it, but their clean butts = healthier hens! 🙏🏼

Winter maintenance is a must when you have fruit trees on your property.
Learned the proper technique a few years ago & it’s made all the difference. My son & I trimmed last winter & had an amazing bounty last summer.
Pruning solo today and hoping for another outstanding bounty yet again!

Donald Trump's pardon of over 1,500 insurrectionists is exactly why we were created. We are fighting to restore a progressive America. Let's hold MAGA accountable. Give us a follow and let's get it done.

Shining a light on our Portland Airbnb’s natural brightness!

I snapped some new pics to show you just how much beautiful light pours in through our large windows!

Yes, Portland can be gray (we’re in the Pacific Northwest, after all), but on sunnier days, our space transforms into a sunny oasis
