Vaccination of young adults will not prevent as many cancers as vaccination of children and teens

While ACS doesn't recommend the vaccine for anyone over 26, it is available up to age 45.

It's World Immunization Day, a great day to talk about the HPV vaccine.

The American Cancer Society recommends:
- 2 doses of the HPV vaccine between the ages of 9 & 12.

-Teens & young adults 13-26 who have not been vaccinated or who haven’t gotten all their doses should get the vaccine ASAP.

November is a big awareness month for different types of cancers! We'll be touching on most of these during the month with the exception of neuroendocrine cancers. There are too many variations that fall under that label and I couldn't possibly do it justice.

It's time to learn a little about liver cancer! Liver cancer is hard to detect as many symptoms don't show up until the disease is in an advanced stage. To learn more, visit cancer.org.

It's Mammography Day! This is a great time to touch on screening guidelines for breast cancer. If you haven't scheduled your mammogram, here's your reminder! ✅

It's always a good idea to know what your breasts look and feel like. If you notice any changes, report them to your doctor. Screening guidelines for women at average risk: ages 40-44 should have the option to start screening with a mammogram every year. Ages 45-54 should get mammograms every year. Ages 55 and older can switch to mammograms every other year. The relay for life logo is at the bottom of the picture as well as the words "Relay For Life of Midland County."
