Cleomaceae are the sister group to the Brassicaceae. In contrast to the Brassicaceae, they contain true C4 photosynthetic species. This indicates that the genetic capacity to evolve C4 is ancestral to the split of Brassicaceae and Cleomaceae.

Completed the classical plant experiments in General Botany #ECSU. Undergrads collected data on fresh/dry wt. ⚖️ of seeds 🌰 for a week; histology🔬 of plant organs; light ☀️vs chlorophyll on photosynthesis ⚗️🧪🌱; respiration (germinating vs dry seeds 🌰). #ECSUVikingsScience #hbcuexcellence

Pothos is a popular foliage plant. ‘UF-Ea-0310’ was selected from self-pollinated seedling populations of ‘Marble Queen’. Regeneration of ‘UF-Ea-0310’ via direct somatic embryogenesis resulted in a complete green-leaved cultivar: UF-Ea-0314.
