I have spoken with hundreds and hundreds of parents since 2020, and affordable childcare has near unanimous support.

Gender war 101
June 3, 2025 at 1:57 PM
"The answer to the manosphere’s dark turn is rooted in embracing men with sincere affection, shunning the zero-sum calculus of the gender wars and offering a vision of masculine virtue that inspires men to heroic acts of compassion rather than vicious acts of aggression." @davidfrenchjag.bsky.social

To be clear: This isn’t about ignoring girls, or pretending their fight is finished. Far from it. It’s about building a future big enough for both to thrive because opportunity is not zero-sum, progress is not zero-sum, and empathy is not zero-sum.

Boys and men are less likely to turn to their communities for social connection and support.

“I can’t work without child care, period.”
@reshmasaujani.com‬ of Moms First joined @steveadubato.bsky.social to call out the crisis:
-40% of families go into debt for child care
-Half live in care deserts
This isn’t personal failure — it’s systemic. #First1000Days #ChildCare

My daughters were part of Girls Who Code. The programs were inspiring, community building, and taught them skills they use in their careers today. Skills unavailable in curriculums in schools in this country. @reshmasaujani.com gave the speech we need at this time👏

You’re telling me this is a better use of state funds than child care and paid family leave? 🤔

I had the honor of addressing Miami Dade College's grads — about a third of whom are non-native English speakers and almost 60% are the first in their families to graduate from college.

As the daughter of refugees, I thought it was important to remind this year’s grads what makes America great.

HERE’S THE THING:

Women aren’t having fewer children because we’re confused about our bodies or waiting on a gold star. We’re having fewer children because this country makes parenting nearly impossible to afford — or survive.
Want a Baby Boom? Try Paid Leave—Not PR Stunts.
The Trump administration is trying to boost the birthrate. I have some thoughts.

Why aren't American women having more babies? @reshmasaujani.com says the economics sucks. Paid leave would be more effective than $5000 giveaways.

Good.

Also, remember when the Trump White House reportedly received a proposal to reserve 30% of Fulbright scholarships for people who are married or have kids? (A form of DEI if you asked me…)

You can't pick and choose when you want a meritocracy.

Great question today from Justice Jackson! The Justice asked whether under the same argument in Mahmoud v Taylor parents could opt their kid out of a class taught by a gay teacher if they have a photo from their same-sex wedding displayed on their desk (the lawyer said the same rules would apply).

Want America to have more babies?

It's pretty simple: Get moms the structural supports we've been asking for all along.
