This was such a fun one to work on; if you think 'free the nipple' is old news and there's nothing more to say, there is. This is the kind of stuff I adore running at @theflytrapmedia.com!

Currently doing some marking. A reminder to everyone involved in archives and collections: digitisation is not preservation. If I digitise a box of records and put the files on a USB stick I haven't preserved a thing. It's all about what you do with the files post-digitisation. #archives #digipres

Frankly I would personally prefer to never hang out with the weird people (extremely derogatory) talking about children's peckers all day
The majority of US voters, so far as I can tell, flatly do not care about trans people one way or another. They aren't necessarily especially friendly to them, but they clearly find the notion that they're supposed to obsess over them distinctly offputting. (Despite major efforts by the right!)

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

I'd write it differently now, but the core argument that these fields of inquiry are essential for making sense of the world, for asking new questions, for reacting to change (the birth of a disabled child, a body that ages - not just big global change), remains my position.

And part of this is "for what?" the increase in energy for the internet gave us something, electric cars give us something, AI generally wastes our time, gives us bad info, encourages kids' suicidal ideation, etc. If you can imagine a price tag on every shitty summary; would you buy it?

Genuinely, a corporate death penalty would be an appropriate remedy in many regulatory incidents.

Imagine a situation wherein no individual is found criminally liable for a massive harm to the public by a corporation. Automatic death penalty, since it organized itself to dissolve responsibility.

We tried this end of 19th century and it was not a good idea, yeah
I see lots of apps and pop "science" socmed trends about this too: face shape/body shape/limb length etc can tell you something about the person. It's not cute or a curious game or quiz (as it's often presented), it's normalizing race science and eugenic thinking. It's all been debunked, stop it

She’s right. The government started putting gender on passports in 1972 out of concern that men and women were getting too hard to tell apart, what with all the hippies with long hair and feminists in pants and whatnot.

Strike gender from IDs. Everywhere. It serves no purpose. @murray.senate.gov
@murray.senate.gov When the government is back in session, will you introduce a bill to take “sex/gender” off passports? There is no reason for it to be there, and, indeed, it’s only been there because of the misogyny of our government in 1972?

I’d appreciate a response.

Sadly, the last 60 years of Liberal (Democrat) history can be summed up as:

Greaves & Lishman: we wrote The Theory and Practice of Community Politics as a cautionary tale

Lib Dems: at long last, we have created community politics, as outlined in the pamphlet “how not to do community politics”
This isn't a dig at the many many principled members of the Liberal Democrats - including several good friends of mine - who are solid liberals who do want to build a liberal society for everyone. Unfortunately, the party is institutionally broken and will always put winning ahead of principles.
