Sky and Reflections this morning at Ariel-Foundation Park. And yes that is an old smokestack with a staircase spiraling around it that you can climb and see the view. Worth a visit. #MountVernonOH, #Ariel-FoundationPark,

My son, taking high school physics for the first time explained that "force" were just a way for us to model our understanding, so it was not confusing if normal force did not seem to be pushing up- after all force was just the way we modeled what was going on. #PhilSci #NOS #ScienceEd

There is a movement afoot to get the SI unit for momentum (kg m/s) named after her:
It is time to honor Emmy Noether with a momentum unit
I have been teaching physics, on and off, for 30 years now, and every time I get to momentum and start writing “kg m/s” for the unit, my students ask if there i

I've been writing a proposal to study exhibits in science museums for my dissertation. Looks like ASTC (Association of Science and Technology Centers) no longer has a page exclusively for equity. The page existed from April 2020-Jan 16, 2025 according to the Wayback machine. We are in a new era.

my roommate and good friend fell in love with paleontology - due in large part to the PRI.

on top of having millions of fossils in their collection, the PRI is many bio undergrads’ main exposure to natural history museums at Cornell.

Detailed article about PRI and the Museum of the Earth's current struggles. If the museum closes it may be the largest collection dispersed/lost in the US (with 7 million specimens it is one of the 10 largest in the US).
