After years of saying fracking in Surrey didn't cause earthquakes, UCL study says actually it did. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Researchers from the University College London (UCL) have claimed a series of more than 100 small earthquakes in Surrey could have been triggered by oil drilling.
Horsehill: Surrey earthquakes may be linked to drilling say experts
Seismologists at UCL say several earth tremors at Newdigate could be linked with nearby oil drilling.

*Cringe* I have started a blog. Thanks @ruthtingay.bsky.social for the encouragement.

The first post looks back at my landmark Supreme Court win last June and the ripple effects it's still having.

The leader of Surrey County Council wants to delay the local elections in May, so that he has time to work out how to further consolidate his power... I mean, so he can manage the 'unique, significant financial risk of the
level of debt currently held across Surrey local government'

Reigate council spends £619K on upkeep of empty commercial properties each year. Maybe local councils should stop pretending to be property developers? Creating even more loss-making charity shops doesn't feel like a great solution, but I don't know what is. www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-...
Charities and pop-ups could be offered short term leases on Surrey shops
A new idea could see charity shops and pop-up stores coming into vacant units to help cut council bills

Great news: Redhill station has replaced the rain gutters that were leaking all over Platform 2 stairs. Less good news: they still leak

Reigate council are still justifying burning fossil fuels at every event in Priory Park. They need to find a way to run these events from the grid. The park is hardly a remote setting.

I'm hearing a single directely elected Mayor for all of Surrey and two unitary councils - East Surrey comprising Tandridge, Reigate & Banstend, Mole Valley and Epsom & Ewell with the rest in a West Surrey.

But that the councils - if forced - would rather the three as drawn up here.

Costa in Reigate is cash only at the moment. Morrisons is having issues. Probably after the power outage last night. Sounds like much of the high street are having issues.
