I think I'm getting addicted to work. I was pretty lucky this week in that I had three days in which I worked both of my jobs.

Daniel Murphy of New York Mets deflects criticism for taking paternity leave - ESPN New York. It's sad to me that this was even news-worthy. A man and his wife were having a baby and he wanted to be there to witness it; and it is his given right as established through collective bargaining through his labor union. Thanks for stopping by

The pressures of teaching all caught up with me yesterday: Coming in late in the school year, getting to know the kids, their backgrounds, the pressures they fact and the expectations placed upon them - or in some cases lack thereof; report card grades coming up and preparing for my first formal evaluation all hit me with the force of a Mack truck.

A crisis of the mid-life variety?

Readers, please shoot me if I ever turn into this... As I stated in previous entries, I've never been a person to say "this is mature, that is immature," or "I'm too old for this, I'm too young for that" but it seems as Year Forty draws closer, I'm getting more annoyed at maturity level of - not so much friends of mine - but friends of friends of mine.

Christmas was and continues to be a very stressful time of year. If it's not a lack of money, it's anxiety about whether or not people are going to like the gifts I've gotten
holiday blues
Christmas is a really intense time of year, ya know? They say that retailers do 40% of their annual during the 4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Think about it: retailers stay open the other ELEVEN months of the year just to do a little more than half of their business for the year. Through our media, we are absolutely inundated with reminders of Christmas.
