Serious question: what (domestic) energy supply companies do people recommend in SW London? (Had my fill of both British Gas and E-On in any of their guises.)

Changes code from 12 months ago.

"Hang on, why does THIS change break THAT?"

Ferkle, ferkle.

"Oh. I see what I was thinking. Thank you past me. That makes sense, and is actually the better way."

Anyone else get moments like that?

Qualified and licenced workers are unemployed and homeless on the streets. Meanwhile one man is deluded enough to think he has the right to expect to be paid a trillion dollars a year.

Funny ol' world, innit?

I have an Android 'phone, and I thus - by extension - I have a Google calendar. The have some very odd limitations.

You can't set multiple advance reminders? In fact you can't set any. Why? The task has to be its own reminder. You can't have an annually repeating task that has a deadline. Why not?

I love (don't love) the way that not only is current LLM technology itself little more than mechanised plagiarism, assimilating and regurgitating the mass works of real people, people are now using it for their own plagiarism.

I'm a co-host on a school "nostalgia" page. The saddest thing I come across is middle-aged men whose family lives have obviously fallen apart who are obviously flicking through their metaphorical "little black book" of school girlfriends and trying to re-establish contact.

The one thing the current level of "AI" doesn't have - creativity. Or imagination. Call it what you will. However big and complex the data it is trained on it is still sifting relationships and fixed (and often broken) inferences from static prior data.

Wahay! After NASA pulled their XML feed of ISS sighting predictions, my localised predictor pages died, and I failed to notice for quite some time.

I recently finally got around to fixing the problem.

#UKOnlineSafetyAct

It's going from bad to worse.

Britain’s push for online "safety" drifts into a realm of digital pre-crime, where algorithms decide guilt before anything gets seen.

Facebook are going to great lengths to stop people removing tracking information from their inbound URLs.

It seems it is no longer possible to take an external URL and remove the supplementary fields and still have it work.
