This explains a lot about the current state of the Republican Party. They accepted those who fled the Democratic Party due to Johnson pushing for and achieving the Civil Rights act. They were accepted with open arms, and it’s been on a steady decline ever since.

This image is a picture of people working an organic farm under the convict leasing system. After slavery was abolished, the South was big mad. So, they started arresting (mostly Black men) for things like vagrancy and loitering.
