I used to get really confused when people praised my engineering communication. I just thought “This is how people talk / ask questions / share information, no?”
And the answer is “No, providing appropriate context and tailoring your message to your audience is NOT something engineers are good at”

Back in April, I got laid off from my role as a Tech Lead at a software company. It took a few months, but I found a new gig. The pay and title were a step lower, but I was happy to be employed.
Today, I was promoted back to a Tech Lead, and my salary raised to what it was pre-layoff 🎉
