Sleepy crayfish.
Snoozing crayfish can be distinguished from dead crayfish by the fact that their legs remain standing or even up in the air rather than going completely limp.
Gave me a good scare first time a saw it.

Right now I'm doing this big writing project on rare species in Florida and thinking about how much they might suffer because of this AI grift, especially the poor freshwater crustaceans, already loved by almost no one, now trapped under Orlando during a water crisis. I hope they get to live.

It's a shame that googly eyes are usually full of air and made of smooth plastic bc like.... I am pretty sure a sea urchin would hold them if it could keep a grip on em, and that it would be just about the best thing ever. Proof of concept:
