I wonder if I’d be more accepting of the passage of time if I threw out all my makeup when I was supposed to

Doing less work > doing work for appearances. And I’ll die on this hill over and over again. Still believe this results in overall better outcomes, but you really have to hold out for actual years for people to realize.

Meeting my college roommate/friend of 20+ years, thinking about how all I ever saw myself doing was writing novels in Ann Arbor. Now I’m getting ready in a hotel across the country, getting ready for a day full of actual job meetings, and there are two grey hairs just sticking straight up. How???

Does anyone else feel relieved to have a slight return to healthier times (at least in spirit) with this shift to new social media platforms?

I have more thoughts for my blog, but yeah I feel comforted and relived to have a sense of community and connection re-emerging.

Fondly remembering when I went in for my annual physical this year and the doctor took one look at my intake form and said: “Are you here to get diagnosed for ADHD?”

No?

That “no” has gotten a lot more curious in the last several months, that’s for sure.

It’s important to remember that resisting takes many forms—including throwing sand in the gears and just not… rolling over in advance—and they’re all needed and useful.
“Saying “No, it’s over! Don’t be so naive!” [is] really just rolling out a red carpet, the ultimate capitulation in advance. At the very least, put him to the task. Make him execute on what he’s trying to do. That’s the first role of a political opposition.” 👇

Approaching a full decade as a UXer. 🤠 IA turned UXD turned UX Strategist turned Service Designer turned UXR. There’s so much wrong with this field, but one thing that’s just the absolute best: constant change and endless opportunity
