Calling someone “shrill” or “aggressive” isn’t helpful... it’s often just coded bias.

In our latest episode, kim opens up about feedback she got on the word “asshole” - and how it made her rethink how tone gets labeled.

You delivered the feedback.
But did it land?

Feedback isn’t complete until it’s heard, understood, and helpful.

A title doesn’t earn trust - your actions do.

Think of trust like a plant. You’ve got to water it:
Be honest. Follow through. Listen for real.
And create space for others to speak up.

Some days feedback flows. Other days, you’re rehearsing a one-sentence message for 45 minutes.

Both are part of the process. Keep going.

Generic praise is easy to give - “Great job!” but it doesn’t always help people grow.

The best praise is specific. It shows you’re paying attention and reinforces what to keep doing.

That’s how you build confidence and competence.

What’s the most helpful praise you’ve ever received?

Leadership isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about asking better questions, making space for disagreement, and making sure the best ideas win... not just the loudest or most senior voices in the room.

Some of the best feedback I’ve received wasn’t scheduled - it was spontaneous, sincere, and exactly what I needed in the moment.

You don’t need a calendar invite to care personally and challenge directly.

How do you handle impromptu feedback - giving or receiving?

Sometimes the best feedback isn’t planned... it’s in the moment.

Don't wait for the perfect time. If you care personally and challenge directly, now is good enough.

How do you handle impromptu feedback moments?

A quick reminder as you kick off your week: trust isn’t given on demand - it’s earned through listening.

Radical Candor starts with curiosity. When leaders take the time to truly listen, they build the foundation for honest feedback, stronger relationships, and real collaboration.

Radical Candor starts with care. If you skip that step, you risk burnout and disconnection.

Ever ask for feedback and walk away feeling worse than before?

That’s not Radical Candor - it’s Obnoxious Aggression.
Criticism without care might feel honest, but it shuts people down instead of helping them grow.

Kind and clear > Brutal honesty.

Sometimes the feedback you don’t give causes more damage than the feedback you do.

Staying silent feels easier in the moment - but it costs more in the long run. Radical Candor means caring personally enough to speak up.

Happy Friday!

Feedback shouldn’t feel like a storm cloud hanging over your day. When we avoid it, the stress doesn’t go away - it just builds. The real relief comes when we say what needs to be said, with kindness and clarity.

The solution: Clear's four-step framework makes habit formation practical and sustainable.
Key takeaway: Focus on systems rather than goals, and make tiny changes that compound over time.
