People throw this cultural safety word around a lot.

So let’s make this really simple for the kids in the back stalls.

You need to listen more and talk less when you’re around Indigenous voices and cultural knowledge holders.

Not hard.

Claiming “strong environmental laws hurt business is like claiming it’s bad for restaurants to have food safety standards. It might be easier in the short term to let your prawns bake in the sun all day, but poisoning your customers isn’t a sustainable business model.”

Our law to ‘save’ nature is a rubber stamp for species extinction
After decades of Australian governments standing by while native species perish, Labor’s new environment bill offers little hope.

Confession time, percentage wise I've probably done better out of horse racing than probably anyone else on the planet.

I think the only time I've ever bet on a horse race was about 10c on a Melbourne Cup sweeps in primary school, a few yrs ago I worked casually for a local horse stud for 3 yrs.

Murray Watt squats beside dead fish, rather symbolic of the whole thing really.
Australia's nature laws are the most powerful protection we have against environmental destruction and species extinction.

Our new environmental laws are 5 years in the making, and 1,500 pages long.
Do new environment laws actually help the environment?
Ambiguous language in draft national environment laws means acting on scientific facts or not will come down to ministerial discretion.

So many questions.

Ok, so Halloween is coming, if you're into that kind of thing do the right thing for the environment, plastic, non biodegradable skeletons end up in landfill or get blown away and are just a disaster.

If you're gunna hang up skeletons, use the original organic biodegradable ones.

I've been in the RFS for around 36 years & Landcare around 30, I love the anarchistic nature of both, the ability to say "no", alternately to say "get f&cked" to senior management, it can be true grassroots democracy, determining what your area needs & getting it done.

The gambling industry is predatory and insidious.

I quit the Parliamentary Sports Club a few weeks ago, when I discovered it had registered as a lobbyist group and was sponsored by the gambling peak body.

The industry will do anything to wield influence on pollies, and hates being called out.

Visited NZ 12 years ago, noted the countryside grazed to the ground, very green due to regular rain but very hard grazing, realised the "clean green" image was aspirational. Surprised to see how bad it is re rivers and lakes.
The Government of New Zealand has made a new tourism ad and it's surprsingly honest and informative!
