💯 this

Every generation of tennis has THAT match

This (for now) is THAT match
They will try to rank this match against the greatest big 3/big 4 matches but that is a futile exercise. What this match does is a statement on the era being here now. That one match that people will talk about the way they do about 08 Wimby.

Two almost perfect players.

Alcaraz's lone weakness: Gets bored doing easy things
Sinner's lone weakness: Can't beat Alcaraz

This thread of shots.
The shot by Sinner is box office and Alcaraz gets to it for a winner anyway🫡

Coco knows how to strike a trophy pose ah ah! She was ready. Now putting that leather jacket on. Gotta respect the trophy game :) When you remember how her game was struggling after Melbourne… She really dug deep.

what an incredible match, coco's calm and relentless defensive work was incredible, and put so much pressure on sabalenka to be perfect. eventually she cracked and coco just kept going.

She’s been reaching Madrid, Rome and RG’s finals on her B game. Honestly that’s such a mental feat. It’s been fighting from start to the end.
What's mad is at no point over the past fortnight did she look near her best. But she's maybe the best at finding a way when not at her best.
The best moment of this final is Gauff’s emotion after clinching g her first Roland-Garros and second Grand Slam title. She did what she kept doing since months now: fighting through. Mentally so strong today. Let Sabalenka self-destruct. 6-7(5),6-2,6-4.

Yamal is like Messi in that he creates so many chances that his team-mates freely squander them, perhaps subconsciously expecting there to be many more.
