I was pretty shocked when I saw this map earlier today. It’s great to donate to your local food bank, but it looks like people in New Mexico will be in the most desperate need when SNAP funds run out November 1. Wherever you live, if you’re looking for a food bank to give to, consider one in NM.

In case you want all the restaurants in the #Albuquerque area that are offering free meals to kids during the #SNAP benefits outage, this post lists all the ones that I listed in separate posts yesterday. I'm sure more will announce that they are willing to help today.

80 years ago this morning—at 5:29 AM (Mountain War Time)—about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, the nuclear age began with a big bang. Contrary to widespread assumptions, the area surrounding the remote Trinity test site was not uninhabited, and the fallout did not drift away harmlessly.

Buried in a Senate budget bill is a massive giveaway to corporate developers and fossil fuel companies.

It forces the sale of at least 2 million acres of Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management land in 11 Western states *every 60 days* until millions of acres are gone.

Alonzo Aragón, 50, and Felicia Aragón, 45, came from Albuquerque — where a companion protest is being held — because they thought the protest at the Capitol would be more significant. It's the first protest they have ever attended.

"New Mexico hasn't had a king since 1822," said Alonzo.
