Baby’s first single-author paper!

...or is it? Turns out testing for baby universes in your AdS bulk is trickier than expected.

My 7th grade biology teacher once lit germ-x on fire to demonstrate that it was “alive” based on our textbook’s definition.

Needless to say, the demo really stuck with me!
What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders?

We do not actually have a consistent, agreed-upon definition for what, specifically, differentiates living systems from non-living ones. For every category rule you can think of, there's seemingly an exception.

Almost all of the bugs and problems and breakage in the software you use is known to the engineers, we just aren't allowed to fix it. Gotta ship new features.

I learned so much from the international students I studied alongside at Georgia Tech and CU Boulder. They made me a better physicist — and a better citizen of the world.

Trump administration revokes Harvard's ability to enroll international students
International students make up more than a quarter of Harvard University's student body. Harvard says the government's actions, which could cut off a major revenue stream, are "unlawful."

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.

This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.

Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.

And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

This one hits close to home. My first exposure to research was at the LSU REU program in the summer of 2016. I learned so many skills I still use today - Python, Mathematica, and the basics of how to do research - and published my first paper as a result. Truly a loss for our young scientists

Me when I code (no matter how many comments I leave myself!)
Museum work is being frustrated that the instructions left for me are not detailed enough; and the person who wrote those instructions was me, four months ago.

That’s my Representative!
Colorado's Rep Brittany Pettersen (D) flew cross-country with her one-month-old to vote against the GOP budget tonight. Dems ended up one vote short. Pettersen was part of an unsuccessful bipartisan push to allow new mothers to vote remotely. #copolitics

Preparing my 2025 Day of Light outreach lectures, I bought a glass sphere and made a rainbow. But I saw some odd things, and so here’s a thread with some photos and raytracing pictures. There may well be mistakes so tell me and I'll fix them. First the basic setup showing the primary bow.
