If you use enough ultranationalist language, and make it ultra enough, you can trick them into supporting you. So to make a frankly boring political point about something as mundane as nuclear power, he /has/ to use language that wouldn't look out of place in a Hitler Youth poster.

It's important to stamp on this stuff quickly, since animal rights is a classic way for Nazis to launder their ideas.

Don't really get why some of these awful people think the fact that some of Epstein et. al.'s victims were over 18 is a saving grace: it's still sexual abuse!

This means we’re going back to very aggressive cross examination of victims in sex crime cases, all the way back to the bad old days with the horror stories you’ve heard about women’s sexual histories being pored over in minute detail.
Supreme Court says Scottish courts risking right to fair trial in sex cases
The highest court in the country said there must be a change to how evidence about the credibility or sexual behaviour of alleged victims is used.

This is some devastating stuff here, surely: an absolutely massive step backwards, unravelling many years of work on victims rights.
Recently I talked to a woman who had been raped about cross examination. She went into a catatonic state for 15 mins, then asked me to hold her hand, and then began to cry. We discussed whether she should refuse to give evidence - even though it would mean he got off.

And now this 👇🏻

Like during elections I've often seen those kind of "You almost certainly know and are friends with some Reform/Tory voters, even if they don't say" posts.

But if you're a young female student w/ friends mostly the same, the odds you genuinely *don't* have any Tory friends are actually pretty good!

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

There's also really no need to work with her, at all, so it's kinda a weak defence. It always seems like to me that trans people have to be the compromise, you have to look the other way and play nicely while people debate whether or not you exist and get to have rights

And yep you're right

How many other regional employment tribunals make the news speaking of ideology
Never usually watch the news so I’m actually shocked at how horrifically transphobic the BBC News report is on those nasty Darlington nurses 😭 Evil!

I keep seeing people bring up Polanski's criticism of Corbyn, where he said he couldn't vote for him as a "pro-European Jew", as a sign of his deception.

You realise that was posted in the days after they'd dug up the mural fiasco, right? Pretty understandable statement from Polanski to be honest.

"Just ask yourself, would the BBC champion a presenter who was consistently asking robust questions about the effect of the recent Supreme Court judgment on trans rights? Or would they be more likely to champion someone who was clearly gender critical?"
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

Indeed, the very mindset that surviving an atrocity imbues one with a kind of moral purity is *exactly* what sets it up so that people who survive atrocities perpetrate them against others.
