Role players, particularly online role players - can anyone recommend a site like Facebook but relatively unknown, where people could create fictional profiles and post in Groups or as DM without having to worry that they've already got a real life profile on there?

Been looking over my three games, the completed Unknown Caller, the completed but not fully fleshed out Curtain Call and the incomplete and possibly unpublishable Despicable Cultists of Arkham. Though I work with a company that produces Call of Cthulhu products, these are all decidedly more indie.

Once again realising that most of the gaming folks I followed on X ended up here, rather than Threads (and although there's some gamer community on Facebook, obviously, I'm a small fish in an ocean there).

So I'm going to have to start posting here again to self promote. And go to RL events. Ugh.

Annoyingly, whilst the Threads algorithm sent countless David Lynch posts to me, in which I've been happily buzzing and feeling part of a community for the past few days, my trips to BlueSky have given me fewer glimpses. And so I've been much more eager to spend time there, less time here.

Well, I think I'm going to be working on Curtain Call this weekend, and trying to get it out the door this year. It's not specifically Lynchian, but certainly lends itself to those sorts of stories, and he's the third inspirational David to die whilst I've been working on it.

Besides. Red curtains.

Around 15 years ago I stumbled across Mashed in Plastic, wherein popular music was mashed up with scores and scenes from the works of David Lynch.

Today seems like a perfect day to revisit it, in its totality.

Same with me. After a day of seeing countless others share in their grief for one of cinema's warmest, most charming and unconventional gentlemen I think this tribute from his long time collaborator and friend (my own introduction being largely through Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet) finally broke me.
was mostly keeping it together until I read Kyle MacLachlan's tribute to David Lynch

I've never actually participated in a Game Jam before, but this might be the time to give in to my fears and do it.

I have previously written a Fiasco playset based on Twin Peaks ('Little Town, Dark Woods') so I should maybe venture forth between two worlds again.

Fire, walk with me.

A scene from the Sandman comics which has been playing in my mind in recent days is one where The Sandman confronts a convention of serial killers with the truth of what wretches they are, stripping away their delusions of grandeur...

I don't buy this product any more, but this is one of the best ads I've seen in a long while.

As a fan of 30 years, this is one of the hardest things I've had to read. But definitely something I needed to read.
I knew this piece about Neil Gaiman was in the works, and still, I felt sick reading it.

TW: rape, abuse, coercion, and child sex abuse.

Went to Ireland for a week, came back ill, and am now mostly not doing anything for a bit except trying to sleep, having fever dreams between coughing my throat raw, and sticking on videos in the background I can listen to. Will try to be more responsive on social media soon.

One of the many problems with both Musk and Trump is that they've seen, beyond doubt, that they're too rich and powerful to face any meaningful consequences for what they say, so they can now shoot off any old shit imaginable, no matter how dangerous and/or false.
Elon Musk is now calling Jess Philips a "rape genocide apologist", he is stirring up hatred and violence against UK politicians that has no basis in reality.

This is some truly frightening stuff. A woman MP was killed in 2016 because of rhetoric like this.

Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel.

Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain.

Doctor says try my crossword, that'll cheer you up.

In a weird moment of synchronicity, I'm in an airport departure shop, where they're playing the Runaway tune from the airport departure scene in Mr Robot, that I only know remember because I watched the episode about a week ago.

Catching up with #TheTraitors and they've not fixed the thing that should immediately tell Faithful who they can trust each morning - unless they've edited it for TV, the last two people to breakfast are always two Faithful the Traitors were considering but ultimately didn't murder.

Feels like a mostly accurate summary of 2024 , but I'm surprised by the appearance of James Blunt.

Finished another rewatch of Mr Robot recently, and this tune from season 1 is the earworm I have on the last day of the year. It's a lovely piece of music which for a while I assumed was part of the excellent Mac Quayle score, but is admittedly more introspective.
