My girlfriend told me that I have "a well thought out and consistent ethical framework" and honestly, I think that's the best compliment anyone has ever given me

The latter is portrayed by intelligence services, the police and CPS as having a "terrorist connection" to justify not just arrests but more scary-sounding terrorism arrests. It does this by insisting it's only a matter of time before the pro-Palestine movement slides into violence.

Good news from Belgium for sex workers, whose movement for decriminalization has had a big win. Belgian prostitutes now have the same employment protections as other workers, including maternity pay, pensions, and sick days. Power to them 🖤☂️

To be clear I don't think this book is about the most marginalised of the working class but it is creating a deliberately confused narrative that will ultimately help people sloppily dismiss social justice movements as elite phenomena.
It's absolutely deliberate. We're seeing an attempt at elite capture here. The ruling class is subsuming the language of critical theory and repurposing it to critique the most marginalized of the working class. Obviously, the goal is to further divide workers as material conditions worsen
This use of "capitalist" to mean someone who trades their ability to do work as a human being to make a living, essentially in other contexts the literal definition of a labourer, is so extremely perverse it feels deliberate.

It's like calling a manual labour a biocapitalist. Just perverse.

This is a disconnect I run into a lot with students. I say they should treat everyone with respect, and they say respect is earned, not given. So now I have switched to "treat everyone with kindness" or "decency" or whatever word fits for the situation.

It doesn't always work but it helps.

The decline of "quick before 2024 ends does anyone want to tell me they have a crush on me" posts is an image of the apocalyptic defeatism and the perpetual fascist present of the current moment. The end is already here. There is no time to speak of crushes

Here’s the most charitable reading I can offer:

The tech barons behaved as though they were atop a social hierarchy, and expected mass adoration for their generosity+forgiveness for mistakes.

Instead, Elizabeth Warren, Lina Khan et al treated them like the heads of *massive corporations.*

So a reminder:

It’s not ‘liberals’ saying Hegseth abuses women. It’s his mom.

It’s not ‘liberals’ comparing Trump to Hitler. It’s his vice-president.

It’s not ‘liberals’ calling Musk a liar and a racist. It’s his own child.

For the record.

We just went over this, you and I. I would still like clarification on what you meant by this because the roads were a Weimar project and the fiscal stimulus was paid for with debt they explicitly expected to get back with plunder.

Tim hortons forgot to put cream cheese on my bagel, and I just want to know if the person bagging it just wasn't paying attention or if they genuinely thought I just wanted a bagel with nothing on it.

Trump makes it official: JAY BHATTACHARYA, a co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration, is his pick to lead the National Institutes of Health.

A remarkable turn after Bhattacharya became a public health pariah four years ago, dismissed by the then-NIH director for his "fringe" views.

My proposal is that men are charged with felony assault if they impregnate someone without prior notarized consent. Such an absurd inconvenience might get men invested in getting the gov/church out of our bedrooms.

Some feminists can only imagine feminism as a project of rehabilitating and salvaging women’s traditional compulsory roles—motherhood, caregiving—and are incapable of imagining unmothering women as anything other than a reflection on their choices: we’re never seen to have desires of our own.

I hate when people talk about issues surrounding diagnosis without engaging with the fact that categories like healthy, "normal", and disability aren't objective, ideologically neutral categories. The healthcare system is also a system of power.
