I am an avid reader, gardener, chef, nature lover, and mom. I believe we could accomplish a lot if we all sat down at a dinner table together. I am also a parent who lost an adult child to breast cancer. They were 23. I continue their fight for justice.
Mixing seasons in my house right now. #Gardening

My lone cucamelon. I grew this plant from seeds from last years’s plant. Looks like I will need to get fresh seeds next year. Last year I got tons of those little guys from the plant and enjoyed snacking on them.

I guess R’s fight for “states rights” goes only as far as red states. I never thought I would live to see this mess. Federal police outside of a governor’s press conference to maintain “safety”. Everyone needs to stand up and push back.

I am missing Japan. The month long trip I took there was life changing. No country, or culture is perfect but I really enjoyed the upside of a collectivist society. I also enjoyed their love of nature. If you visit, please be a good tourist so I can come back someday.

Anyone else have a problem or a block of will when it comes to making doctor’s appointments? I waited longer than I should have to get a mole checked because I feared it was melanoma and was scared to hear the diagnosis. It was melanoma, thank god my husband insisted I get it checked. 1/4

One flower that reminds me of summer camp back home, the other, my current state’s flower. Both are growing in our community rain garden. I love my neighborhood.

My mom passed last September. Now I am parentless at 58. These beautiful lilies bloomed at their house along one whole side of the house. I love them. After mom died I dug some up for my house, and they are now blooming here.❤️ Resurrection lilies are a super cool lily.

This is way beyond acceptable!
Masked ICE agents roughed up and detained 71-year-old citizen Barbara Stone, who was volunteering as a legal observer at a federal courthouse in San Diego.

In a statement to a local outlet, ICE accused Stone of assaulting an officer.

My “shrimp plant” from a good friend who comes from Columbia, the country. We live in Columbia Md. This was her mother’s. She loves me enough to have gifted it to me. I am a gardener, she is not.

Happy last day of National Pride Month. Even the celebration is ending I will still be an ally, a safe place, and family to all. My adult child was non binary, I know first hand how cruel the world is to people like them. Be an ally!

I am so proud of my Maryland town and the No Kings demonstration here this morning. It was peaceful and uplifting to see such a varied crowd out protesting!

Some days feel so heavy, usually the ones in which I watch or read the news. When I read Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, when I was a teen, back in the 80’s, I thought to myself “Thank God I live in America and this will never happen.” But here we are. 1/2

I took a sweets making class here in Kyoto Japan. It was fun and interesting. I suggest when you travel abroad you try out your hand at experiences you can only do there. You learn the traditions and get to learn from wonderful people.

Daffodils are finally blooming in the yard. They are late to even get to this point in my state. These sunny little yellow heads bring me great joy right now.
