America is no longer a country that defends freedom here and around the world. It has become a war nation and is rebranding itself to make it known to all. Is this the first step in Trump’s plan to invade Canada and Greenland?

Getting ready for our winter concert. Not sure if I was bored or inspired. I’ll let you decide.

The worst thing about Trump’s presidency isn’t what we learned about Him (we already knew he was a sleazy, lying, child molesting, convicted felon). The worst thing is what we learned about our friends and family.

American English is messed up. There is one silent K in knight. Only one silent K in knickerbocker. And three silent Ks in Republican.

I just finished unscrewing battery compartments and removing batteries from all of our adaptive musical instruments and toys. As much as these instruments cost, they really need to start making them with rechargeable batteries built in. #specialeducationteacher #music #adaptiveinstruments

As a music special educator, I have to measure growth in different ways. Ex, I have a student that immediately threw any instrument I handed her. By the end of the year she would hold it until I picked them up. Not play, but not throwing either. That is success.

I left the Republican Party in 2016 because of Trump. I should have left far sooner. They have been showing their racism, misogyny, hatred of people that think different or live differently, and their desire for power at the expense of all others for decades now. Please forgive me for my stupidity.

A great day to revisit Wil Wheaton's excellent takedown of Elon Musk from 2022:

I can not fathom the emptiness, the insecurity, the insatiable need for attention and validation, the staggering arrogance, the malevolence and total void of human experience that is Elon Musk. 1

Trump ordered the National Institutes of Health to cancel their review panels on cancer research.

If you or someone you know has cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or one of many countless illnesses that needs a cure — this could have devastating effects.

I wonder if anyone has checked to see just how many of these new executive orders were part of the Project 2025.

Walking into admin with a $5000 wishlist of adaptable instruments. I put an order of priority on the instruments, but told them that if I had a budget of about $50k I would probably be set. Always ask for more than you need. #startrek wisdom from Scotty. Right @georgetakei.bsky.social?

Raise your hand if you have ever walked into a room in someone else’s home (or at work) and asked Alexa to turn the lights on. 🙋‍♂️ Now raise your hand if it took you a few tries to realize why it wasn’t working. 🙋‍♂️

I am so proud of my students that participated in a winter concert. This is the first time that this school has ever had a band concert. Band for special needs students looks a little different than Gen Ed. We used boomwhackers, jingle bells, and scarves for our program. #musicteacher

Life is more rewarding when you are pulling for others to achieve rather than walking over them to get ahead. Success at the expense of relationships is emptiness. #success #relationships #mentoring #teaching

In one music class today…

I played my usual welcome song and then after a short pause started playing Feliz navidad. One student starts yelling, “No, that’s wrong. You’re not listening to me. You forgot the, and starts singing “Welcome to music it’s real cool.” So I sang it again. #musicteacher

The kid in me says, “I have more time for video games, crossword puzzles, and reading.”

The adult in me says, “Get some rest you have a lot of work to do tomorrow.”

The teacher in me says, “And what can we learn from this situation?”

The kid in me says, “Sometimes I hate my teacher.”

It is always sad when an instrument breaks. Adaptive instruments are so much more expensive that it is downright heartbreaking 😿. Trying to get it replaced is the school can find the funds.

A parent’s view of love - being willing to forgive your child unconditionally of doing something wrong even when you said you would not do that.

The Republicans’ view of love - pardoning insurrectionists that injured (and led to the deaths of) police officers while threatening to hang the VP.
