my parents controlled every moment i had while on a computer and the very first time i got a space of my own on tumblr i had no idea how to deal with it and got really taken advantage of, and i had no one to tell because the only way i had privacy was by hiding it

maybe a child seeing porn on accident when they're a bit too young for it is not the end of the world actually. maybe what's worse is their life being subject to the constant gaze and scrutiny of their parents. I can't imagine how much more i would hate mine if they also checked my browser history.

they blocked me when i confronted them with like, basic facts of the situation. like they clearly do not actually want to talk about it lol

i feel like a lot of people joke about how unrestrained internet access as a child was a bad thing, but like, no the fuck it's not. the alternative was my parents surveilling everything i do on there. I think it's good for kids to have lives outside of their parents eyes.

like yes it's bad that discord wants your ID or whatever. it's bad that you're not allowed to talk about adult topics on the internet. It's worse how this will affect children, i think. It's worse knowing that this will cut many of them off from adults who aren't their parents.

i haven't really seen it mentioned here but the discord thing and similair moves are all about gutting children's agency, right? like the goal of parental controls is largery to surveil the behavior of children, to forfeit total control to parents, to make it easier to abuse and control children.

there's like 2 writing things in the early season of mlp i really like. first, everything happens in threes. these episodes were originally written with 11 minutes in mind, gotta pad that. second, magic only ever causes or exacerbates problems (unless using it teaches a lesson, which is rare)
