Better get some leftist contributors or you simply won’t be able to cover/understand what is happening around America.

The troubling thing is the "doing it for the meme" style of violence may be leaving the furthest and darkest fringes of the internet and entering into social spaces we would better recognize as maybe not normal, but certainly adjacent to it.

Jahn may not have had that "single issue".

My pregnancy introduced me algorithmically to the world of mommy blogging and content creation. It was the most regressive garbage I have ever seen. So much of it was the cult of promoting women’s pain as “natural,” and “natural” was a pipeline to anti-science MAHA. Demonizing an OTC painkiller fits
During pregnancy, acetaminophen — the main ingredient in Tylenol — is generally considered a safe painkiller and fever reducer. Research hasn’t shown that it causes autism.

Calling podcast listeners!

Please drop your favorite news podcasts for me. The Daily has been getting on my nerves for a few years now and after back to back duds this week I think I need a new pod in my rotation.

Just saw Superman. Was gonna do a whole bit about it walking in. That’d be a disservice. It’s an important piece of work and I’m not joking. I don’t even like superhero movies. Sprint to see it. Bring your kids and explain it to them. James Gunn had a time machine when he made it.

In an executive order, Trump targeted the Smithsonian and the National Museum of African American History & Culture suggesting that it is “divisive” and pedaling “improper ideology.”

So, I took a trip back to the museum, and what I saw was a place trying to tell the unvarnished truth about America.
What It Means to Tell the Truth About America
And what happens when empirical fact is labeled “improper ideology”

The minute the New Deal started conservatives were like “it’s only a matter of a few years before we go full communism” and yet, somehow, we never got within earshot of full communism. Meanwhile, all it took was electing one Black president and within a few years we’ve got Nazi salutes at CPAC.

When this presidency ends—and it will end—we need a Rooseveltian plan to not only undo the damage he did, but build bigger than we’ve ever built before.

Big universal programs and mandates. Pack the SCOTUS. Kill Buckley v. Valeo and Citizens United v. FEC. New anti-trust laws aimed at Amazon. Etc.

Do you value your library?

Trump just ordered the dismantling of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the key source of federal support for libraries.

Libraries are vital social infrastructure, the foundations of an open, democratic society. Gutting them means gutting our own communities.

The order targeting the agencies, largely obscure entities that address issues like labor mediation and homelessness prevention, appeared to test the bounds of the president’s power.

I wouldn't be a librarian today without student loans. Next to no one from my economic class, from my generation would be.

I wouldn't have taken those loans without the promise of forgiveness for nonprofit work.

The agreement I signed, that I'm bound to as a loanee, should bind the loaner, too.
