Went and saw The Long Walk. I was hoping Mark Hamill would have a bigger part, but the main cast was great and really shine in their roles. I’m too far away from my last read of the novel to nitpick anything, it overall felt very true to the spirit of the book even with the changes they made.

Saw a cyber truck leaving the neighborhood with a matte black paint job. Couldn’t help but assume it was either to cover up some graffiti or an attempt to shield themselves from it.

So I really thought this week’s Handmaid’s Tale was the finale so when it got to the end I was a little disappointed. Glad I went looking for behind the scenes stuff so I could see it’s not done yet.

I’ve been watching Spring Baking Championship and I’m convinced the closed captioning is AI generated. Sometimes the bakers run their words together and it’s picking something that it does sound like they are saying but a human editor would easily be able to tell that wasn’t what they said.

Watched A Complete Unknown with Jak. It was hard for him to not notice the inaccuracies but we both enjoyed Chalamet’s performance. It also made me want to go listen to Highway 61 Revisited again so if it does that for enough people it’s an absolute win.

Brought J to urgent care Friday for what ended up being a torn tendon in his finger. Apparently left with a free virus. 🤬 Here’s hoping it’s not Covid or the flu.

Watched all of the Beatles Anthology and the films with my niece. It was great hearing her laugh at the parts that charmed me from the beginning. The end of the Anthology still brings tears to my eyes. I think part of it is how genuinely sad you can tell Ringo is about their end.

Made the decision to take down my old writings from Smashwords, and also couldn’t resist reading the first volume again. It wasn’t as cringe inducing as I expected. The main thought I have is that I really needed to let things breathe more and develop more naturally.

Got tickets to see Billy Joel in October! Been a fan for most of my life so this is a big one for me. Pretty sure it’ll be my first concert in the Superdome too.

Shoveling snow really sucks, especially when you have to use a standard shovel and a rake to do it. But at least our sidewalks and driveway are clear now.

A very rare notification for S Louisiana! They are predicting 4-7 inches for us today. Super excited to see it, though also a little worried about losing power because our infrastructure just isn’t used to this. Fingers crossed this is just a fun day of snowfall for us.

My theme for this year is Natural. I chose it as one with multiple meanings, as I’m going to try to eat better, be more true to myself, and could use a reminder that you just have to let things happen in their own time and not try to force things or get upset if change isn’t happening fast enough.

Just watched Jak play, and the 80s new wave cover band is setting up to take us into midnight. Not a bad way to start 2025. The outside world isn’t looking hopeful but I am hopeful my personal world will improve.
