What's makes this even more ridiculous is that there's a stretch of the Queens/Nassau border that doesn't even follow the street grid.

Can you spot it?

This is very well-intentioned, but a stop sign is just a red-octagon sign instead of a yellow-diamond sign.

Signs don't stop cars, but concrete blocks, raised crosswalks, or curb extensions do.

I agree, but how do you reply to someone complaining about a missing bus stop without sounding completely heartless?
We need more (and better) bus lanes, an expansion of all-door boarding, and to remove duplicative bus stops in order to bring the MTA's bus system up to par with our peers across the Atlantic.

Even when NYC makes changes to its streets, it’s through the language of North American traffic control devices which are bright, distracting, and ultimately car-oriented.

A great intro to a city that looks more like a city and is ultimately safer and more pleasant.
Walk anywhere in Amsterdam and you’ll sense a calm coherence: bricks, curbs, fixtures, benches, bollards and drains that look related. This isn’t accidental. It’s a product of the Puccini Method, the city’s standards—part design language, part technical playbook—for shaping every street and square.🧵

It’s always tragically hilarious to see crews desperately patching up the worst bits of the janky boardwalk in the days leading up to the US Open.

(Maybe the USTA could pitch in some of that $23 cocktail money and actually do something good for Queens year-round)
The 7 train and Long Island Rail Road stops at Mets-Willets Point station are rife with barriers that make the massive sports complex a nightmare for the disabled, writes Christopher Alvarez.

The Staples on Meeker and Kingsland in Greenpoint will be an Aldi!

But since that requires ULURP review for a zoning change from an M1-1 to a C7-1, it will be open in 2027 at the earliest?

And still with that giant parking lot?

I don't know Ben Chou, her challenger, and probably disagree with him on various issues.

But I am 100% sure he is a better human being and more fit to serve the residents of Northeast Queens than their current councilmember.
